Recorded courses are made of sections and lessons. As you finish lessons your progress goes up, and when it reaches 100% you can receive the course certificate if the course has one. Many courses also release their content on a schedule.
How each lesson is completed
| Lesson type | Counts as complete when |
|---|---|
| Video | You have watched about 80% of it (or reached the end). Playback resumes where you left off. |
| Text, PDF, audio and web pages | You open the lesson. |
| Live class lesson | You mark it complete with the continue button. |
| Quiz | You pass it. Answer every question, then submit. You can review your answers and Try Again as many times as you need. |
| Assignment | You submit your work, then mark the lesson complete. The grade doesn't block completion. |
- The Mark Complete & Continue button completes the lesson and takes you to the next one.
- A quiz lesson can't be marked complete until you pass it; the button then reads Submit Quiz to Continue.
- Submitting an assignment again replaces your earlier submission and clears any grade it had.
How your progress percentage is worked out
- Your course progress is the average of all published lessons, so a half-watched video counts for half a lesson.
- A section's progress works the same way over its own lessons.
- When the course reaches 100%, it is marked completed and, if it has a certificate, the certificate is issued.
- If the teacher adds new lessons later, your percentage can go down until you complete them.
Why some content is locked
Many courses release their content on a schedule (sometimes called drip), so you move through the course at a steady pace. A locked section or lesson tells you why and when it opens. In the player a locked lesson shows This lesson is still locked, the date it opens and the time left.

Rules that work in your favour
- Lessons and sections you have already completed never lock again.
- Only the school can open content early. When it opens something early for you, the sections after it may follow sooner too, keeping their usual spacing.
- Progress you brought from another platform counts: sections you already finished there stay open.
Unlock emails
Your school may email you when a new section opens (and, in programmes, when a new course opens). If several sections become due at once, you may get a single email for them.

FAQ
I watched the whole video but it isn't marked complete.
Refresh the course page. If it still shows less than 80%, play the last part again with a steady connection; progress is saved while you watch.
My progress went down.
New lessons were probably added to the course. Complete them to reach 100% again.
Can the school open a locked section for me?
Yes, the school can open content early for individual students. Contact them if you have a good reason.
Why does a section say Scheduled?
It opens later on the course's schedule. The course overview and the player show the date.
