The Emails page lets you write to the students you teach, for example to announce a new module or remind a batch of a class. Emails go out from the school's address and are logged with their delivery status. The page has two views: Compose and History.
Sending an email
Step 2: Step 1, Send to: choose where the students are
Recorded course: pick one of your courses. Live class: pick the class, then Every batch of this class or one batch. One student: you search for the student in step 2. A choice reads You have none yet when you have no course or class of that kind.
Step 3: Step 2, Students: tick who gets it
Search by name or email and tick students. This page ticks everyone on the page; Choose all ticks everyone in the list, or the first 50 when there are more. The chosen students show as chips you can remove, and the counter reads n / 50 chosen. Clear starts again.
Step 4: Step 3, Message: write the Subject and Message
The Insert buttons add a field that is replaced for each student. The Preview on the right shows the email as one of your students will read it.
Step 5: Check Ready to send?
The card sums up who the email goes to and tells you what is still missing, for example Choose at least one student.
Step 6: Choose Send email
You are asked to confirm; an email cannot be taken back once sent. You then see Email on its way to n students. and the page moves to History.
Who can receive it
- Students enrolled in the course, class or batch you chose (enrolled or completed) whose account is active.
- With One student, type at least two letters of the name or email. Only students in your own courses and classes can be found, and the list is short, so type enough to narrow it.
- Students who have unsubscribed from school emails, or whose address bounced, are skipped.
- To reach more than 50 students, send the email again for the rest.
The Insert fields
Each Insert button puts a field into the message where your cursor is. You can also type the field yourself, in the subject too. Every student gets the email with their own values.
| Insert button | Adds | Replaced with |
|---|---|---|
| Student name | {{student.name}} | The student's name |
| Course / class name | {{course.title}} | The title of the course or class you chose in step 1 |
| NSDP name | {{school.name}} | The school name |
Who it comes from and where replies go
The email is sent in the school's name from the school's sending address, and replies go to the school's reply-to address, not to you. If you want students to answer you, say how in the message (for example in the course comments).
The History view
- Figures: Emails sent, Delivered, Opened, Clicked and Bounced. The last four are shown as a share of the emails sent.
- The Email log lists each email: when it was sent, its subject, its kind (Written by you or Automatic), the number of recipients and its status.
- Search by subject, or set From and To dates. Refresh reloads the list.
- The log holds the emails you sent and the emails the portal sent to you.
Delivery statuses
What each status means

- SendingGoing out now.
- SentHanded to the mail service for every recipient.
- Partly sentSome recipients were sent, some failed or were skipped.
- FailedCould not be sent after several tries.
