Certificates

Verifying a certificate

Every certificate has a unique certificate number. Anyone, such as an employer, can check it on the public verification page without signing in. Here is what the check shows.

Each certificate is printed with a certificate number that looks like CERT-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX. The verification page for a certificate is at /verify/ followed by that number on the school's website, for example /verify/CERT-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX. Many certificate designs also print this link.

How to check a certificate

  1. Step 1: Find the certificate number

It is on the certificate and, for students, on each card in My certificates.

  2. Step 2: Open the verification page

Go to the school's website address followed by /verify/ and the number. No sign-in is needed, so you can send the link to an employer.

  3. Step 3: Read the result

The coloured band at the top gives the answer, and the number you checked is shown under it.

What the result means

What each status means

  • Valid certificateIt was issued and is currently valid.
  • Certificate revokedIt was issued but has since been withdrawn by the issuer. The date it was revoked is shown.
  • No certificate foundNo certificate with this number was issued by this school. Check the number for typing mistakes.

What the page shows, and what it doesn't

Line on the pageWhat it shows
Awarded toThe holder's name as printed on the certificate.
Course / Programme bundle / Class batchWhat the certificate is for; for a batch, the programme and the batch name.
CampusThe campus, for in-person batch certificates.
Issued byThe school that issued it.
Issued onThe issue date.
Revoked onOnly for a revoked certificate: the date it was withdrawn.
  • Never shown: the holder's email address, student code or attendance details.
  • A number is checked only against certificates of the school whose website you are on.

Sharing your certificate

Send the verification link, not only a photo of the certificate. The link always shows the current state, so an employer can see at once whether the certificate is still valid.

Troubleshooting

The page says No certificate found, but I have the certificate.

Check each character of the number, including the dashes, and make sure you are on the website of the school that issued it. A number from one school is not found on another school's website.

My certificate shows as revoked.

The issuer withdrew it, for example after a correction. Contact the school (or your teacher or campus for a batch certificate) to ask why.

The name on the page is wrong.

The page shows the name recorded on the certificate. Contact the school to have it corrected.
